I agree with the previous posters that there are SOME people who are capable of making greater sacrifices while not paying their mortgages. Look at recent press reports from mortgage brokers, although I cant find it, providing some support to that view. (Although i dont have the report, or the basis for the report so hard to draw too many conclusions from it).

But I do know of some who are still paying for their kids to go to private school, but still not paying theirmortgages. Remember any loss of theirs, in relation to their mortgage, are been picked up by the general tax payer.

It is hard to define what expenses should be allowable, but it is naive of anyone to think that there arent some people 'gaming' the system.

And Natterjack, I'm not a FG supporter!
