Just to put things in perspective regarding Mr. Gutherie. As well as teaching children to swim, usually in the presence of their parents, he put his own life at considerable risk in recovering the victims of drowning accidents from the treacherous lake bottom. It is unfortunate that the offending post appeared on the Board, but I think that any further comment on it should now be dropped. Everyone who knew Michael Guthrie, knows him to have been a very decent, civic spirited gentleman, to whom the people of Castebar owed a big debt of gratitude, hence the memorial on the lake-side. May his generous soul rest in peace.
