There is a man and he wanders around the town searching for the places that have changed, the pubs that have closed, the houses gone and the shops shut up. He stops on main street and wonders what has happened, he walks down towards the cementry and wonders where all the new shops have come from and why people call it the 'old' cemtentry.

He stops and remembers the horrible smell from the abattoir which has been replaced by the meatless smell of McDonalds.

Disoriented he wonders where he can go and then proceeds to the lake and though it has changed he sees a sight that raises his spirits, the people of Castlebar enjoying the oasis of nature in the heart of the town, like they have for many a year.
