Four members of Castlebar An Garda Siochana rapidly responded to a burglary in the town centre today. Upon arriving at the crime scene, they were greeted with three criminals attempting to vandalise and rob before and after them. While one suspect avaded arrest, the individual was caught within minutes by gardai on the other side of the town, through the use of latest policing technology. This type of criminal activity is yet again, at the forefront of todays society in the Mayo region. However, if it wasn't for the quick response and policing principles of the local force, the outcome could have potentially been very different. At a time when local gardai are being striped of almost every given resource due to budget cutbacks, the members continue to police the community to higher standards at no added benefit to themselves. Some people will argue "It is their job". I however, will argue that the rapid response is something of, or indeed exceeding that or ERU standards. Again, Credit where credit is due to the Castlebar Gardai.
