I would first like to congratulate Michael Feeney named Mayo man of the Year. A great achievement but would also like to pay tribute to PJ Clarke from Ballina who appears to be written out of history. PJ was Michael’s co-author of ‘Mayo Comrades of the Great War’ and spent years collecting and collating information yet his role is seldom mentioned. I’m not taking away from Michael Feeney’s achievement in developing the Peace Park but I don’t think it would be there without the book which started the whole campaign off. Maybe it’s time his role was celebrated also.
