I noted recently that the Town Manager was explaining that the forcasted revenue from Parking Charges in Castlebar for 2013 are expected to be down by abou 10% on the 2012 revenues........ and he put these down to a period in Juky and the free parking scheme at Christmas
Firstly .. how or why would anyone expect the figues to be down given the amout of money spend on providing new Car Parks ?
Secondly ...the Christmas promotion has being running a few years now so 2013 is hardly going to be any different.
Anywat, I saw that Cll. Kilkoyne suggested that if adequate vigilance was adhered to on Sundays, when people knew there were no Traffic Wardens on duty .. that enforcing the parking charges should help reign in the difference in revenue ..
Now .. can Cll. Kilcoyne clarify .. does he want Parking Charges brought in for Sunday .. as every Public Car Park in the town at present has FREE Parking on Sundays.
Also, as an aside.. can someone explain why after spending so much on the new Pavilion Car Park, that the car park between the Libary and the swimming Pool is FREE . this car park is closer to the town centre .. yet its FREE .. madness !!!
