Got another call from windows support today. I asked the caller a few questions and unlike previous calls she seemed to have the right answers when queried about being from Microsoft and seemed to to know my product license no. She requested me to enter some commands (run cmd assoc) into my pc to prove she was reading me my correct id. at this stage I told her I was busy and did not know when she should ring me back. I have googled the "run cmd assoc" sequence and came up with some very interesting info. One site "http://www.welivesecurity.com/2011/07/19/support-desk-scams-clsid-not-unique/" explained the scam quite well. If you get a similar call don't listen just hang up, they can be persuasive.
