A (Dublin) friend of mine was in Castlebar over the weekend, and couldn't help but remark on the plethora of tacky advertising littering the town by businesses keen to cash in on the team's good fortune. Much of it is tasteless, opportunistic and tatty. Many of those advertising have no clue about the game, having never kicked a ball in anger in their lives and are merely trying to cash in on the honest Mayo long-suffering supporters. No doubt these same opportunists will have hoovered up more than their fair share of tickets also. Isn't it time the game was taken away from these fair-weather 'fans' given back to the loyal supporters?
