I second that. Was up there yesterday for a walk with the family. The kayak club were having a BBQ and family day bringing little 'un's out for a go on their boats (complete with flotation devices). A great facility now and a credit to those in the council with such foresight. With the development of the GMIT campus it can only be further enhanced as a long neglected amenity for the town.
I would agree with the precaution to guard against the development of any anti-social activity, which would discriminate against its use as a great family facility. Unfortunately there's a relatively thin line between teenagers just hanging out and mucking about on the swings in the playground whilst shouting and swearing loudly in the presence of young children and a move on to more threatening or destructive behaviour. All it takes it a couple of negative hoodlums to wreck it for everyone, including the inncocent teenagers enjoying the facility.
