Jaysus some negative responses there, seems to be the same when anyone in town suggests or does something to try and improve things.
One thing for sure is that something needs to be done, and at this stage at least it is being recognised by a local Cllr in local media.
While not having been outlined in recent government plans it is likely in the coming years that there will be an increase in property development... with proper monetary control you'd hope.
Local Cllr's should be ready for this with a view to revitalise our historic town core by placing a greater emphasis on the redevelopment of vacant property for residential uses.
Surely there are ways to bring some vitality back to our town centre, (reduction in rates etc. yes) however there is huge scope with yard space etc. behind Main St. on former Bolger's car park side and opposite.
A new residential population could provide the stimulus for new social and economic growth.
