A cara the organist at the church was mr sean oconnell ..john joe collins was a flautist and piccolo player extroardanaire...there was lordy and flipper smith a great trumpet player...gerry and toddy ralph...tommy ralphs trumpet and cornet playing were sounds from heaven and his rendition of ..oh mein papa rivalled eddie calverts....who can forget paddy guthrie....eddie roy...pat devanney...and in fact jim ..swing devanney was a violinist leamy....ray mcnally ....the reynolds gavin orchestrsa was known as the cecilian sextet...singers of note were nora brinklow...davies wife...gene krupa of castlebar..tommy richardson...mchale road housed ..the great val doonican...and legendary john regan.....and who can forget all the musicians that flocked to castlebar in the glory days of ballroom dancing...when it really was ....ballroom of romance...herr willihiams...and herr woolfe one of the greatest slide trombonists of the times...johnny burke who with willy keane gave the brass section of stephen garveys orchestra a great sound ...along with playimg johnny burke was a vocalist whose dulcet tones reverborated in sheer ecstasy on those ...slow seductive numbers was here you had to make uour move....of course other musical people were the lallys...and lets never forget our beloved paddy kelly..tog go bog e
