Regarding info about banks selling property, if you ask any estate agent about how the banks operate, they will tell you. And don't forget that banks are not in the "home acquisition" business, they want to get them off their books and get a value for them. It is often easier to sell below par just to get rid of them.
We should have a system like in California, where the banks must choose between the property and the debt. They can't have both.
In other words, if the property is returned to the lender, the responsibility for any outstanding debt goes back to the lender too.
