If someone had suggested a few years ago that an app for taxis would clock up half a million per annum shortly after being introduced to Ireland you would have said they were joking too.
And UBER hasn't arrived here yet.
And 20 years ago if you were told that the populace would be wondering around with Holodeck earpieces talking to themselves or tapping on black tablets of glass buying anything from books to nappies to flights to the sun you would also have said that's just a complete joke - scifi!
So I suggest you give them a chance. Mobile phones in Africa (no landlines over much of the continent) are very important in terms of farmers knowing market prices and being able to get the best price for their produce. They need technology and systems to help them skip over the technology stages that we went through from the 1950s up to about 1997 or so when the Internet began to kick in (or at least its possibilities were becoming apparent by 1997) - but even back in 1997 few would have predicted what has transpired in the past 15 years.
So don't jump in to prejudge it I say.
