The poll on turf burning is controversial if that report published yesterday is correct.
The papers yesterday stated that 1140 people died of domestic fuel burning in a single year - that's a bit of an eye opener.
So the God-given right to cut turf is perhaps as big a killer as traffic accidents?
To quote the Irish Times report:
"The burning of peat made the largest overall national contribution to potentially harmful smoke and dust emitted by residential fuel-burning, despite the decline in peatís popularity over the past decade, the report found."
