Up to recent times humans couldn't change their sex organs.
No one ever HAD to get married, but we've always been able to express our sexuality in any way we liked, though some ways were disapproved of & even punished. We still do this with paedophiles - society has to protect children.
Unless you are religious sex is your own business. There is only one other kind of sex that need concern society & that's when there is the possibility of new citizens being born.Marriage was invented to protect them & support their parents - particularly the woman. It is a social construction & only relevant when there's a likelihood that children will be born.
Gay couples simply don't need it unless they decide to have children by surrogacy or sperm donation. Calling their unions marriage will entitle them to this. The No voters understand this & it is why they say that surrogacy & sperm donation should have been decided on before this misguided Referendum.
That's why I'm voting No
