The networks in Ireland are Vodafone, O2, Meteor/Eircom and Three. Any other "networks" are "virtual operators" which hire spare capacity from one of the four (soon to be 3) main operators.
If moving to a virtual network find out which carrier network they use and what their coverage is line where you live/work and frequent. One way to check coverage is to put a foreign SIM card in your phone for a couple of days and compare signal strengths for the four Irish networks.
Note: Three and O2 are supposed to be merging although not sure when this is happening.
When networks claim "9x% coverage" they are referring to population rather than area coverage, Even RTE don't get 99% coverage.
