Its quite possible that there is heroin in Castlebar. Its hard to understand why someone would try heroin, and why they would choose to inject it, and share a needle. Its time the electorate and political parties take a more logical approach to drug policy.
1) Restrict the market for alcohol.
2) Legalize Marijuana, generate a controlled licensed market for doing so. Use VAT revenue to fund step 3.
3) Education on all drugs in schools.
Marijuana is more comparable to coffee than Alcohol. No one has ever died from an over dose from Marijuana. I can post lots of examples of where people died from an over dose of alcohol. The current illegal market for marijuana specializes in high strength toxic blends which cause psychosis, and fuel profits and violence. Its comparable to buying a pint of espresso, from a jailbird under the bridge where the coffee beans have been grown by a China man in an attic in Leitrim using a fertilizer designed for a sewerage treatment plant in Uganda . Then you drink a pint of the "espresso" in one go.
Whilst Marijuana is illegal then it is a gateway to criminality. In my mind leaving a drug like Marijuana illegal, makes it easier for users to experiment with more harmful drugs like heroin. It leaves users to deal with gangsters and the quality of what their getting causes mental health issues.
