Only problem with Castlebar GAA club, and even more so in Ballina, is that there is too much of a shaper mentality. I wrote about this before somewhere and the main point was that they have no right to have as big as ego as they do. OK Castlebar isn't as bad as Ballina, but what gives either of them the right to act in such an egotistical manner and walk the streets with their heads in the clouds portraying an unjustified level of arrogance. Yes i am from another club in Mayo but Christ i resent their big headedness and because of that i am not too bothered whether they win or not. Take a club like Knockmore, undoubtedly the thickest shower of players you could ever come accross on a football pitch but of it they do not have the airs and graces of arrogance, they have that very important ingredient : humility. Why are the likes of Knockmore and Hollymount and Garrymore humble, while Castlebar and Ballina lads walk around the streets with their heads so far up their asses that they actually believe that they are as cool as Will Smith. Take Ballina and the basketball, i've seen it so many times, an new American comes over for the season and suddenly it is the coolest thing since sliced bread to be hanging round him, or just hangin' as they rather call it. The question is, is it Castlebar and Ballina or is it 2 little Americas ?? God bless the culture and humility of real rural Ireland that preserves my sanity.
Castlebar have Kiltimagh in the first round Speedbump.I can't believe I know that either.As for your comments about Castlebar.I played against them a couple of years ago and spent the weekend there drinking with some of them and they seemed like grand lads to me.But then us Dubs are an arrogant shower of fuckers ourselves.
