I agree with Old Timer.
Jack Lynch, God rest him and his memory, would have paid the nurses what they want, but then he and his Govt did so back in 1977 to "buy" the election and basically near bankrupt the country in the process. It is very likely that agreeing to the nurses demands will only open the flood gates for other public service pay demands and we'll have a domino effect the same as we had in the 1980's.
What is so wrong with the Labor Courts ruling which the Govt. seems to have accepted but the Nursing Unions have rejected?
