I watched it on TV with a DVD player. It seems the
same as (or probably better than) VHS except that
the digital aspect allows some more flexibility
with pause, FFWD etc. and you usually get the
extras thrown in, for example with TBWP you get
unseen footage, the 'mock-umentary' and some
stuff from the web-site. I guess it's comparable
to laser disc. I haven't watched DVD on the
computer but I imagine the small screen would
be distracting.
I don't own a DVD (I don't even own a VCR or a PC!)
so I can't comment too much about the merits of it.
It will be interesting to see if DVD is more successful
than laser disc. It seems to be taking off. The
Sony Playstation 2 (available in about a year) will
play DVDs. It will also have internet capability.
Although, Sony says it will be a games machine first,
so the DVD and Internet capabilities may be rather low-end.
