Its all to do with stupid copyright issues and TV stations having the rights to show programmes in one territory and not another. One reason why a theres so many restrictions on watching TV stations across national bounderies (even Britih TV stations in the Repblic of Ireland) and its going to get even worse when the much overhyped Digital TV (Read: Give Rupert Murdoch all your money) comes in.
Also I think if millions of people tried to access the one website at the saame time it would cause congestion problems (Not sure about the last point maybe M could set us straight on that one ?)
