These things aren't fairy forts. They are man
made structures and they are usually pretty
significant in size, the one in the photo is
at least 15 feet high at its lowest.
That would be a pretty significant achievement
for a community of 'little people'. Also, I
don't see why fairies would need to build
something like that.
There are other structures about the place that
are so-called fairy forts, but these are usually
just circles of trees where the fairies are
supposed to gather. I guess these are the ones
ypu are referring to.
As far as I remember the ring forts would not
date as far back as the Ceide Fields, I think
they are probably AD at least. It's a long time
since I studied them (national school) so I can't
remember.
