If concensus governing doesn't work, neither does a two party adversarial form of government like we have in the US. If the two parties are so deeply entrenched that they can not be displaced, then effeectively you have only a choice between the best of two evils. The major difference between our two parties is the economic segment of the country that they target for their votes. The focus of both parties is the same - stay in power and continue to milk the "cash cow".
This is why so many of us support the Green Party and its nominee, Ralph Nader. ANY change in the status quo would be a move in the right direction.
