I don't know how many yanks are on here but I'm in America right now and the USA numer one movie is "How The Grinch Stole Christmas". I don't know how familiar anyone is with the story since I never heard of it until I moved here. Apparently it's a childhood classic given a Hollywood spin. Now, this raises several questions. Why make the film? The filmmakers have this idea that it will bring the story to future generations. Which it won't, since the story has been bastardized and generalized to court all youngsters. No child who sees it will remember the story; they'll remember "that movie where Jim Carrey is green and furry". Previous adaptions, like the cartoon and the children's book (obviously), will be regarded by this new generation as bland and inferior; they will be unappreciative of the moral and more favourable of fart jokes. If you're like me and have never heard of "The Grinch", imagine a slick movie adaption of "Mr. Men", with Eddie Murphy and Jim Carrey in full-body makeup as mere shells of the characters. Or, to a lesser extent, a "Scooby Doo" film with young flavour-of-the-month teen actors and a computer-generated Scooby. People have been complaining that there's no originality in Hollywood anymore; the studios shouldn't be digging their grave deeper by bastardizing the stories from our youth.

Here are some examples...
-Space Jam: You can never look at Bugs the same way again- this update was flavourless and unfunny, an ad for Michael Jordan.
-Most Disney movies: The Hunchback? SINGING? Next they'll have Doctor Jekyll dancing a jig. Wait, that'd actually be kinda funny...
-Masters Of The Universe: I'm sorry, but He-Man never looked so bad. And Skeletor wasn't even a skeleton.
-Flinstones: No. Not even worthy of my words, even if I'm complaining.
...to name but a few.

I understand by now readers are probably thinking I should find something better to do. Well, write something yourselves. I'm sick of people griping about elections and the death penalty. At least this topic is something stupid, with differing opinions and absolutely no effect on anything whatsoever.
