Jees there a whole heap of stuff to comment on out of this. Where are you currently in America "Nothing better to talk about"?
Ya know it suprises and somewhat saddens me re all the Irish people that have NEVER had the childhood joy of reading Dr Seuss - I grew up on green eggs and ham (Didn't eat anythign else!)
I do agree about the mediocraty of the majority of the movies coming out of Hollywood at the moment but that's been pretty much par for the course for many years.
Of course three of the most irritiating things are
1. Vehicle movies such as those created for Jim Carey and most dismally of late, The cast of "Friends".
2. Formula movies such as those of the American Pie genre or Teen Horror or in the 80's they were the "Beverley Hills Cop Genre"
3. The third and possibly most offensive types are the remakes or adaptions whereby Hollywood are arrogant or stupid enough to believe they can make a better job of rewriting classics or history or intrepting it or else remaking classic Foreign movies. If ya wanna look at this try two great French moview in particular "Mon Pere ce Heros" and "Les Amants de Pont Neuf" and then look at the appaling Hollywood remakes. Thanks be to God they haven't YET made a stab at Jean de Florette and Cyrano de Bergerac (Tho "Roxanne" was perhaps one of the more acceptable modern adaptions)
Finally, talking of Charlies Angels and remebering fondly the original TV series of the 70's which I don't believe any movie version could come close to equalling for sentiment alone (Ignoring the fact that the TV series is probably now terribly dated and cliched like Hawaii Five O or even Miami Vice) but I have great memories of sitting down to watch it on Saturday evenings after my shower and our Black and White TV going on the blink from the big explosion at the beginning. ANy one else have that problem?
