Why do we need one million hits?
If the Castlebar web site is to continue in the longer term, it has to be able to pay its bills - Internet connection costs, etc. This will be difficult if no one wants to visit us. We are currently actively looking for commercial sponsorship. Achieving one million hits should be a big incentive to potential sponsors to come on board.
The papers are reviewed on Wednesday, after the Connaught is published, by a part-time contributor. Normally the papers section goes up late Wednesday or Thursday following editing and formatting. Anyone wishing to undertake this task earlier in the week for the Western would be welcome to send us a sample.
We'll put the pubs photographs on the list of photos to be taken! A photographer with a flash gun may not get the expected céad míle fáilte however from punters trying to have a quiet drink in the snug? It needs to be associated with a particular event.
Business strategy - Content is King! Everything else follows if people want to visit the site. Hence the one million target.
Also of course the Castlebar Server Project provides a hosting service, domain registration, email pop and web-based, secure server for ecommerce and a range of facilities for web-design companies in the town. We also webcast CRCFM. The commercial companies also benefit from being associated with www.castlebar.ie and again traffic volume is important.
