i'm not going to attempt a line by line response.

thanx for your detailed response, which really shows that debate is good.

there is no real difference between us (i think).

democracy, in its purest form, is the ideal way of implementing the "will of the people", but is difficult/impossible(?) to implement in modern circumstances.

a republic is merely a practical, possibly imperfect, way of implementing the aforementioned "will of the people", by the selection of delegates who we rely on to carry out our wishes, and who are answerable to us periodically.
