so what's the alternative....take no part and then whine and complain about the laws you don't like. the onus is on the individual to take responsibility for society and if they don't like something they should make an effort to change it. it is typical of this day and age (and probably the past too, but i wasn't even a twinkle back when..) to whine away but take no responsibility for anything. and rose coloured glasses i do not wear...i've had my share of complaints but it is amazing what one can do with a LOT of hard work to back up something they believe in. i don't direct this at you particularly - i haven't been at home for an election in quite a while so i didn't vote last time either. the point is, there is currently a system in place, that as infelxible as it may be, was designed to be changed. so, if you're not willing to actually do something about it, quit whining (not to quit discussing however, since that is the best way to figure how and what to do, IMHO)
