Camera Club News - Week Commencing 15th Jan 2007
By Michael O'Sullivan
13, Jan 2007 - 15:20

The second half of the Camera Club's 2006/2007 season started in usual fashion last week when due to an alarm going off the College premises was closed and alternative accomodation had to be found. Thanks to the good offices of Rory Casey who allowed the club use of his premises at Moneen Road, the meeting went ahead and the monthly competition was judged.

Results of the competition were as follows:

Black & white;

  • 3rd Michael Gannon,
  • 2nd Sheridan Gilmartin,
  • 1st Rory Casey.

Colour;

  • 3rd Sheridan Gilmartin,
  • 2nd Mihael Gannon,
  • 1st Rory Casey.

Congratulations to all our winners and thanks to all the entrants. Our thanks also to Eamonn Mc Carthy, President of The Irish Photographic Federation who judged the competition for us. We will give an update on the league table based on the competition results so far next week but because of our unscheduled change of venue some items were deferred to next week.

After the meeting concluded, members were in a rush to their TV sets to watch the program on RTE 1 0f Northabout's historic voyage across The Roof of Russia and in which Rory Casey, already mentioned, played a prominent part. It was a momentous trip and one not likely to make its way on to the holiday brochures in the near future.

For entertainment, competitions and photographic information, Castlebar Camera Clubs meetings in Room SR14, GMIT, Castlebar is the place to be on Thursday evenings at 8.00pm sharp, alarms etc., permitting.
