Members were delighted to hear of Michael Gannon's successful entry to the most recent Irish Photographic Federation Distinctions session  in Thurles Co. Tipperary on Saturday 26th. April last when his 15 print panel successfully cleared the judging hurdle at the first attempt and earned this talented photographer his Associate Distinction, the second highest distinction in Irish amateur photography.

As if that is not enough Michael opened a new exhibition of his work in The Clew Bay Hotel, Westport on Friday 2nd. May. It is a fascinating exhibition on the theme of toys of  childhood, do drop in and enjoy. Good luck Michael and keep up the good work.

This Thursday, 8th May, sees the final round of our Photographer of the Year competition which will decide who our P.O.Y will be for the coming 12 months. The theme will be Street Photography and we look forward to a good entry in all the usual classes.

The Club is presently planning an overnight trip to the Aran Islands in Mid to late June, If you are interested make sure to be at next Thursday's meeting in Room SR14, GMIT, Castlebar at 7.45pm sharp, when full details will be announced. See you there.
