Employment Legislation The legislation, which covers payment of wages, is the Payment of Wages Act 1991.
The following is an example of some aspects of legislation in this area;
The Payment of Wages Act states that every employee has the right to a
written statement of wages to be inclusive of gross pay and subsequent
deductions.
All deductions should be either necessary by law, (for example PAYE and
PRSI) or otherwise agreed between the employer and employee in a contract
or written capacity (VHI payments for example).
The act states that every employee has a right to a readily negotiable
mode of wage payment.
