Peer pressure is felt when individuals of your own age try to make you change the way you think and behave with regard to;
  • Alcohol, smoking, drugs
  • Not attending school
  • Sex
  • Damaging property
  • Stealing
  • Disobeying or deceiving parents
  • Hurting others
One can cope with peer pressure through;
  • Being aware that you are being put under pressure
  • Thinking about the consequences of your actions, e.g. trouble with your parents, friends or teachers
  • Deciding what is best for you
  • Having the confidence to be able to say "NO"
  • Becoming involved in activities that build your self-confidence
