Voluntary Work Abroad
Do you want to work as a Volunteer in another
E.U. Member State (or Iceland or Norway)?
If so, European Voluntary Service for Young People could
be just what you are looking for.

What is EVS?
European Voluntary Service is a new volunteer
programme for young Europeans with financial
assistance from the European Union (E.U.).

European Voluntary Service is based on a
partnership between three parties:

  1. the young volunteer
  2. the organisation responsible for sending the volunteer
  3. the organisation responsible for hosting the volunteer

A European Voluntary Service can be:

  • Short term 3 weeks - 3 months
  • Long term 6 months - 1 year
If you choose to be a Volunteer you benefit from
the following:
  • Return airfare from Ireland
  • Accommodation and food for 6 - 12 months
  • 2 - 3 weeks language training/cultural awareness before commencing service
  • Preparation workshops
  • Insurance cover
  • Pocket money allowance - £25 per week approximately
  • Local support and guidance
  • Improved language skills
  • Improved communication skills
  • Practical experience, which may help your career plans
If you are between 18 and 25, resident in an EU
Member State and have an interest in youth,
social, heritage or environmental work, why don't
you apply?

Previous work experience in these areas is not
always necessary.  A knowledge of the local language is an advantage, but not essential as language training is given.

Léargas also have an Ireland/UK exchange programme for young people.  For more information on this and other Léargas programmes contact:
