The Ecology of Twite in Ireland
I'm undertaking a PhD on 'The Ecology of Twite in Ireland'. The primary aims of the project are to determine breeding population, wintering and breeding requirements, movements and migration from breeding to wintering sites. It is a large undertaking, and will involve many hours of observations of twite over the coming two - three years. Colour-ringing is being used as a tool to establish extent of movement of twite between breeding and wintering areas. The two studies areas are North Mayo and West Donegal.

Any records of sightings of twite throughout the country would be greatly appreciated. Also for anyone in the club interested in looking for cr-rings in flocks, assistance would go down a treat!!

All the best,
