Mayo Association League FootballTribute to Pat Quigley(Former President of the F.A.I.) |
|
On behalf of the Mayo League, I would
like to take this opportunity to congratulate you, Mr. President, on
your term of office. You
have presided over the Association during a time of change, and a degree
of turmoil. Any reasonable person would acknowledge that it was a difficult
period, but you have come through it with your reputation and integrity
intact.
You have shown boundless energy, coupled with your enthusiasm and determination in all the tasks demanded and requested of you. You have represented the Association throughout the length and breath of the country covering hundreds and thousands of miles in the process, in an exemplary fashion and in an impeccable manner. No task was too small if it involved soccer at any level. You have overseen the appointment of the Technical Director, Brian Kerr, an initiative which resulted in two European championships, and a Bronze medal at the World Cup; the appointment of Regional Development Officers which is quite clearly bearing fruit at this early stage: and the continued assistance of funding for Leagues and clubs in providing facilities throughout all corners of the country. You epitomise all the virtues that are good in football, and you have been a fine ambassador of the Association in all your various roles. I would like to extend my best wishes to the incoming President, together with the officers, and all those that continue to give of their valued time in the promotion of the game, and work in a voluntary capacity in the interests of football. I would earnestly hope that the Association would move forward in a positive manner, and plan for the future. Thank you very much.

F.A.I letter from Brian Kerr, Technical
Director / Youth International Team Manager to Joe Butler, Chairman
of Mayo Football League}
9th July 2001
Our Ref: BK/SP
Mr. Joe Butler, Chairman, Mayo Association Football League, It is the intention of the F.A.I to advertise and appoint a new Regional Development Officer for Galway / Roscommon shortly which will allow Niall concentrate more on Mayo / Sligo, but "the more – the merrier" as far as I am concerned! The Coaching Plan and involvement of the Regional Development Officers in so many crucial activities is fantastic and a model for all other areas. I presume you are satisfied with the co-operation and ability of Niall Harrison and would appreciate you making that clear to the relevant people at all opportune times as some backward legislators have been uncooperative with their efforts (just a few I might add). I leave for Japan today and then Spain immediately on my return so will be away for the rest of the month. You can contact me on my return if you wish. Keep the brilliant work going – it is an inspiration to see the developments in Mayo Football and the Kennedy Cup Team were great in Limerick. Yours sincerely, BRAIN KERR TECHNICAL DIRECTOR / YOUTH INTERNATIONAL TEAM MANAGER THE FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION OF IRELAND CUMANN PEILE NA hEIREANN FOUNDED 1921
