Castlebar Swimming Club held their Annual Club Gala on Friday 8th December and once again there was a big turnout of swimmers.

In the junior girls squads which include Jo Davis, Shenagh O'Byrne and Avril Egan first place was awarded to Laura Keaveney. 2nd. to Sarah Wiseman and 3rd. to Ciara McGowan.
In the Junior Boys squad 1st. place went to Anthony English.
The Senior Girls squad included Sarah English and Helena Walsh. 1st. place was awarded so Laura English and 2nd. went to Jill Magee. In the Senior Boys squad, which included Darragh Quinn, Brian Moran, Michael Walsh, Oars Dever, Ciaran Garrick and Conor Walls, 1st place went to Joseph Moran, 2nd. to Calm Garrick and 3rd. to Jimmy Wiseman.
Many of the clubs 'A' swimmers were in action in Claremorris gala which was held on December 9th. and 10th. In the freestyle events, Laura Keaveney took silver (under 12) and Jo Davis was 4th. In the same event, Cian Holland took silver in the boys under 16, and Joseph Moran took the bronze. Conor Walls was 5th. in the final of the Boys (Senior) event.
In the butterfly events, Cian Holland kept up his fine turn to take gold in the Boys under 16 event.
Jo Davis took silver in the girls under 12, as did Joseph Moran in the Boys under 16 final.
Laura Keaveney was 4th (girls under 12). Laura English 5th (Girls under 16), and Conor Walls 5th. in the Boys senior.
In the 200m Individual Medley, Silver went to Joseph Moran (Boys under 16), Cian Holland was 4th (boys under 16), Conor Walls took bronze in Boys Senior, and Laura English was 4th. (Girls under 16).
In the Backcrawl, Joseph Moran took gold in the Boys under 16 final. In the breaststroke, Laura English achieved a Division I qualifying time and the heat and went on to take the silver in the final of the Girls under 16.
Dara Dever (Boys under ?) and Darragh Quinn (Boys under 14) also achieved their division I qualifying times.
In the relay events, the Boys under 16 team- Cian Holland, Ciaran Garrick, Joseph Moran and Calm Garrick, look gold as did the senior boys relay team of Brian Moran, Canoe Walls, Joseph Moran and Cian Holland.
The boys under 14 relay team Darragh Quinn, Anthony English, Brian Moran and Michael walls, took silver, as did the Jumbo Relay team which included Anthony English, Laura Keaveney, Joe Davis, Michael Walls, Cian Holland, Jill Magee, Brian Moran and Laura English.
The clubs annual Christmas Party was held in the Celtic clubhouse and a great nights fun was had by all. A number of awards were presented on the night and they included:
Many congratulations to Laura English, Joseph Moran and Cian Holland who have been selected on the Connaught Squad and will travel to Leeds next month for training in a 50m pool.
