About CRC fm

Community Castlebar Castlebar - CRC fm is a community based and supported radio station with a licence issued by the I.R.T.C. to broadcast to the town and environs of Castlebar - a five mile radius covering the parish of Castlebar and a possible listenership of up to 25,000 people.

The application for a licence was promoted by the Mayo VEC and supported by the Co.Council, the UDC and 40 voluntary and sporting organisations in the town - this group are members of the Board of Directors which manage the Radio.

The Radio is committed to :

Inform, educated and entertain the community of Castlebar

The policy of the Radio is to provide access for the whole community to the airwaves, and to provide training and experience in the new radio technology to members of the population who are interested.

The radio provides a range of programmes in current affairs, sports, the arts, music and special interests. It broadcasts for 7 hours, 7 days a week.

One member of staff is paid - the manager, and the station employs 11 Fas trainees and approx. 140 volunteers are involved in programming, production, fundraising, and technical activities.

The station has digital recording and editing facilities (mini-disk) and DAT. As a result of having our e-mail address here on the WWW, we are now receiving many more music dedications and greetings from all over the world.

You can e-mail us at: crcfmnow@iol.ie for requests, etc.

CRC fm Casts its Net beyond the 5 Mile Limit!

In a big step beyond our 5 mile broadcasting range we now proudly present regular WebCasts using Real-Audio. We are sorry but Real Audio Broadcasts are Temporarily Unavailable. We hope to resume service shortly

CRC is on Air from 14:00 to 19:00 hours on weekdays and from 10:00 am to 14:00 at weekends (Irish Time)

You must have a realaudio player installed to hear the broadcasts. You can download the free real-audio player and provided you have a soundcard in your computer you are ready to go.

If you live overseas or even just down the road in Dublin or Cork and you miss Castlebar and Mayo have a listen to CRC fm on the Internet and hear genuine Cashlebar accents with lots of local talk and interest.

Time Your Listening Unfortunately we are not on the air round the clock so you may have to time your listening:

Please e-mail us to let us know what you think or to send a request or whatever.

If we are not on air at the moment we have lined up some clips which give a quick flavour of local community radio in Castlebar. Try the following clips if you have a realaudio player installed - or else download the free real-audio player and then try them.

Thanks to x-radio.com for their help - part of our great Diaspora overseas - and check out their award winning site for music music music - very cool indeed.
