The Salmon Of Knowledge

Once there was a man called Fineagus who spent all his time trying to catch The Salmon Of Knowledge. It was believed that whoever would be the first to taste this salmon would be have the gift of wisdom. Fineagus hoped that he would be the lucky man who would catch and taste the fish. But no matter how hard he tried, Fintan, the fish was just too clever. One day a boy called Fionn came and asked Fineagus to teach him how to be a warrior. Fineagus said he would but in return Fionn must do all the chores.
One day, while he was doing the cooking, Fineagus came up with Fintan in his hand.

Fineagus said "Cook this fish but do not taste it". Fionn started to cook the salmon, While he was cooking it a blister rose on the salmon. Fionn reached out his finger to burst the blister and in doing so, burnt his thumb. He sucked his thumb to stop the
pain and immediately he could see into the past, present and future. Fineagas came back and when he saw the look of consternation on Fionn's face, Fineagus went into the forest and kept banging his head on a tree. From then on Fionn had the gift of wisdom and everyone looked up to him.
