In-School Management


In Holy Family School, it is expected that the members of the in-school management team will—
Have a commitment to the aims and objectives of the school,
Encourage a collaborative approach to planning, shared decision-making and teamwork in the school,
Assist in identifying aspects relating to school that can assist the development of the school for the benefit of the pupils,
Collectively review current practice and policies, and propose changes of practice as deemed necessary for improvement,
Support the organization and running of various school-related activities relating to areas of responsibility,
Assist in the monitoring of the delivery of particular areas of the curriculum to all pupils of the school,
Portray leadership in initiating and maintaining improvement,
Submit annual report on duties performed to Board of Management.
The Board of management and staff acknowledge that tasks attached to the middle-management team should match the needs of the school.  Because of this, and also the changing needs of the school, annual reviews of the tasks are important.  Arising from the most recent review, the particular responsibilities held by the middle-management team are as follows:
Berniece Connolly, Deputy Principal:

  1. Pastoral Care
  2. Book Grant organizer
  3. Assisting assessment administration
  4. Induction of new staff, substitute teachers and pupils
  5. Music co-ordinator
  6. Culture and Arts Officer
  7. Organising classes for absent teachers downstairs

Maria Molloy, Special Duties:

  1. Special Educational Needs co-ordinator
  2. Standardised tests organiser
  3. Development of web-site / I C T organiser

Maureen Smith, Special Duties:

  1. Home/school liaison officer
  2. Extra-curricular activities organizer
  3. Timetables organizer – yard supervision, school calendar
  4. SPHE co-ordinator
  5. School Register
  6. October returns
  7. Supervision of cleaning

Bríd McAuley, Special Duties:

  1. Assembly / Dismissal assistance
  2. Green Schools organiser
  3. Staff Safety Rep
  4. School P.R.O.
  5. Staff Room library organiser

Claire Forrestal, Special Duties:

  1. Maths co-ordinator
  2. Literacy activities organizer (Book Fair, Readathon, school library, short story competition)

It is agreed that the In-School Management team will meet formally with the Principal once every month and the Deputy Principal will meet with the Principal once every fortnight.  Those meetings will take place on a Tuesday or Wednesday, outside of school hours.
