Christmas Play 2001

CHILDREN'S LITURGY - CHRISTMAS DAY 2001 As is customary every year the sixth class boys and girls from St. Patrick's N.S. and St. Angela's N.S. respectively performed "The Story of Christmas" in the Church of the Holy Rosary at the 10 o'clock Mass on Christmas Day. This is a tradition that stretches back more than fifteen years and was begun by Fr. Martin O'Connor, now the Director of the Family Centre in Castlebar. The church was packed as usual on Christmas Day (as can be seen from the photographs) - but this must have been the biggest crowd at the 10 o'clock mass for many years. The speaking parts in the liturgy were filled by Eoghan O'Reilly and Leah Duffy (narrators) and Siobhán Regan as the angel. Fr. Máirtín O'Móráin provided an unusual ending when he received a call on a mobile phone which was left under the Christmas tree on the altar. The caller turned out to be none other than Santa Claus himself who was back safely in Lapland after a tough night's work!
