This first picture is of a Connaught Ranger in 1911. He is wearing the British Red uniform with an Enfield Rifle.

The next picture is a Connaught Ranger officer in 1896. He's wearing a guilt sword and the red coat uniform.

In the Church of the Holy Rosary in Castlebar, Co.Mayo, there is a stained glass window of St.Micheal and St.Rapheal with their swords out guarding Paradise was a good theme for the window that was donated to the Church by the men and officers of the 3rd Battalion of the Connaught Rangers in memory of their friends who fought with them and lost their lives in the Boer war 1899-1901.Click on image to see full size image.

This is a group of 4 to Lieutenant & Quartermaster J. Rafferty, Connaught Rangers.
He served in the Army for 21 years and was awarded a Long Service and Good Conduct medal. He was awarded the medal in 1898. At this time he was allegedly the highest ranking Non-commissioned Officer in the Army. This photo shows him wearing all his medals. He was in the 1st Battalion when this photo was taken.

This first grave is of a Connaught Ranger in the old grave yard in Castlebar, Co.Mayo in Ireland. He died on the 13th of May 1920.
The second grave is in the same graveyard, This man died on the 26th of May 1918 aged 30.

This first picture is a Crimean medal with 3 clasps belonged to M. Connors who also served in the 88th Regiment but in 1854.

This second picture is a South African Zulu Medal, which belongs to Private George Joyce, who also served in the 88th Regiment, with the clasp, which showed, he served through the 3 years of war in 1877-1878 and 1879.

This next picture is an Indian Mutiny Medal with the clasp CENTRAL INDIA belonged to Andy Jones who served in the 88th Regiment in 1857-1858.


This picture is a 1914-15 Trio to Private C.J. Henry,5th Conn. Rangers. Enlisted 4/9/14. Transferred to Gallipoli 9/7/15.Then transferred to Tank Corps. Discharged 10/5/18.
