Community Orchard for Castlebar at Lough Lannagh

Are you interested in learning more about planting fruit and nut trees?
Are you interested in playing your part in Castlebar's first Community Orchard?
If so, why not come along to Lough Lannagh on Saturday 12 March and be part of a team of volunteers planting fruit and nut trees at Lough Lannagh as part of a new dynamic project - creating Castlebar's first Community Orchard. The trees will include apples, plums, damsons, cherries and nut varieties suitable for the West of Ireland.

The Community Orchard is the brainchild of Mayo Sustainability Forum, who has received funding under the Local Agenda 21 Environmental Partnership to plant fruit and nut trees in Castlebar. The trees, and subsequently the fruit and nuts provided by these trees, will belong to the residents of Castlebar after planting. Mayo Sustainability Forum is really appreciative of the support from Castlebar Town Council for this project.

If you are interested in being part of this project please contact Thérèse Ruane at truane1@eircom.net / 086 3483414 as soon as possible to ensure you can participate on this innovative and exciting project.
