Castlebar Tidy Towns

An Invitation

Last year Castlebar improved its overall position marginally in the National Tidy Towns Competition. In the Irish Business against Litter (IBAL) league the town fell back after an initial improvement in the early part of the year. Although the overall position was disappointing despite the comment that the town was ‘clean to European norms’ the report highlighted a number of areas described as 'litter black spot' or 'seriously littered'.

Much excellent work has been carried out by many organisations and indeed individuals to make the town a tidier and healthier place to work, live and enjoy. Indeed complements and congratulations are due particularly to the town gardener and staff of the council. Individuals also have worked diligently in areas over the course of many years.

With that in mind the Castlebar Tidy Towns committee will be holding a general meeting in the TF Royal Hotel on Monday January 19 at 8pm.

The purpose is to elect a committee and devise a strategy for the coming year. All organisations, residents associations, schools and sporting clubs as well as civic bodies and the general public are invited to come along.

With the support and cooperation of all sections of the community, together we can make a difference.

Your views, opinions and indeed comments would be most welcome and we look forward to meeting you or your representative at the meeting

Regards

Noel Byrne
