The Mayo Organic Group's October presentation - as usual on the 3rd Thursday night, October 21st, at 8pm, at Bishop O'Healy Centre, Mayo Abbey - will be given by Dr Karina Dingerkus, ecologist. The subject of the presentation will be Native Irish Hedgerows, & non-members are, as always, welcome. Mayo Organic Group had a very successful September Organic Week event - in coordination with the Mayo Abbey Organic Centre - with presenter Klaus Laitenberger, late of Rossinver Organic Centre & Lissadel House, Sligo, speaking about Organic Growing in the West of Ireland, following on from a guided tour of the growing areas. Mayo Organic Group aim to promote organic farming, growing & horticulture, by offering presentations & introductions to various subjects, of interest & relevance. Over the past 2 years, the group has had sessions on Soft Cheesemaking, Compost, Fruit Tree Pruning, Beekeeping & much else, as well as 2 very successful seedling Swap Shops - to be repeated in 2011!
