‘Taking control of energy, waste and water costs at Mayo County Council's Free Business Seminar'
The Environment Office of Mayo County Council is hosting a Resource Efficiency Seminar for businesses on Friday October 2nd from 9.30am to 1pm in Lough Lannagh Holiday Village, Castlebar. The event which is being supported by Castlebar Chamber of Commerce and Castlebar Tidy Towns Committee is open to businesses from across the County.
Energy, Waste and Water represent large costs for most businesses. The workshop will show businesses how to start taking control of these costs and will provide tips and advice on how to do so.
The presenter will be Maurice Bergin, Managing Director of HSC Ltd who runs one of Ireland's largest resource efficiency programmes - the Green Hospitality Programme. His presentation will have a tourism leaning but the lessons to be learnt are valid across all types of businesses where energy, water and waste represent substantial costs.
This includes hotels, B&B's, Pubs, Restaurants, Supermarkets, Service Stations and other Retail outlets.
Sharon Cameron, Environment Awareness Officer with Mayo County Council encourages businesses to attend "I really encourage businesses to take this opportunity to learn more about how they can reduce their energy, water and waste costs. Many businesses require help to add or improve knowledge and skills in this area but with a busy work schedule it can be difficult to take the time to make these changes. In this half day seminar they will be provided with the information on how to start making these savings'
Information will also be provided on the evening on various programmes that businesses can participate in such as the Green Hospitality Programme. The average saving for a small hotel is €30,000 per hotel with large hotels saving in excess of €100,000 per annum. Other business types can make savings of €5,000 to €50,000.
Further information is available from Sharon Cameron, Environment Office, Mayo County Council. Those wishing to attend the seminar are asked to register in advance by emailing environment@mayococo.ie or calling 094 9047443.
