Castlebar Tidy Town Committee

Castlebar has once again been entered for the 2008 Tidy Town Competition.  The committee has put together a detailed and comprehensive entry package. The committee would like to acknowledge and thank the contributions from various institutions, organisations and the community of Castlebar for its input. The entry includes submissions in the Built Environment, Landscaping, Wildlife and Natural Amenities, Litter Control, Tidiness, Waste Minimisation, Residential Areas, Roads Streets and Back Areas as well as a general overall appearance. All of these areas require considerable input from all sectors of the community and to this end a meeting will be held in early June in order to formalise the committee and coordinate activity over the coming months.  Details will be announced later of time and venue. In the meantime groups who are involved in the Adopt an Area concept are encouraged to continue the excellent work they have been doing. Others are asked to see where they may be able to input their time and effort in order to assist in ensuring that Castlebar has a clean, healthy and happy environment. General litter, cigarette butts and recycling are the immediate target areas and all assistance would be invaluable. Together we can make it happen.
