I imagine that there's alot more to the eircom logo than waiting for the site to become popular. I presume it relates to how much funding eircom provide, and how they can get some credit for it.

I'm not sure if the Dunnes, Penneys, SuperValue argument is valid since these companies find their target audience through different media, primarily through mid-morning radio I guess. Also, they tend to be more national in their targeting.

I think the type of advertiser that would be attracted to this site would be one who sells products of special interest to browsers of this site e.g. Mayo football jerseys, off the top of my head, probably arts and crafts too. Things that are unique to the area and appeal to the international audience provided by the web.

I imagine the advertiser would be e-commerce enabled, even if it is just in a basic way.

I suppose if Dunnes, Supervalue etc. introduced e-shopping then they would be interested. I wonder is that viable. They already have a delivery service and their stock inventory must be computerised with bar codes and everything. I guess it would depend on customer demand and if the market is ready for it.
