I don't understand all this hysteria about drugs and the so-called drugs problem.
Of course there is drug use in Castlebar and there has been for years but I think it's a big jump to state that half the population are wired on E and hash based on the evidence of a few kids popping a few pills and dancing a little fast.
How much of the discussion here is based on hard facts and not lazy speculation?
I think ignorant hyping of the problem doesn't really help. Some drugs are more dangerous then others. If you tell someone that a drug is really bad and they try it and don't find any serious aftereffects then they are likely to become complacent with respect to the real killer drugs.
A little education is better than trying to shut down the problem after it's already happened. Experimentation is a part of teen-age life. Most of them grow out of it.
Anyway, I hear that E is declining in popularity due to it's unreliability (i.e. you cannot be sure what the hell is in it). Typical Castlebar, jumping on the bandwagon just as it's going out of fashion.
