Castlebar Four Days Walks 2008
22, Jun 2008 - 10:24

The Castlebar International Four Days Walks were established in 1967 and since that time have attracted walkers from all over the world.

The walks offer a wide choice of routes to suit all levels of fitness. On each of the four days of the festival there is a 10km, 20km and 40km road walk and a ramble of approximately six hours duration. The Welcome Inn Hotel on New Antrim street provides the headquarters for the festival. All walks and rambles start and finish at the hotel.

The festival starts on the Wednesday evening 2 July 2008 with an informal get-together where walkers can register and there is also a short but important briefing. The walks proper run from 3rd to 6th July.

You are invited to participate in this four day International Walking event where you can join walkers from more than 21 countries to walk, talk and to discover and share the bogs, rivers, mountains and unspoilt beauty of the West of Ireland. Even for those living in Castlebar the sheer beauty of the surrounding countryside may come as a surprise. And if you travel to Mayo to take part you won't be disappointed!
