The Castlebar St. Patrick's Day Committee is very excited with the reaction to the new format of the parade and the amount of people taking part.

As the emphasis is on people and floats, there is a total prize fund for FLOAT of €1000. The window display competition, in association with Gnó Mhaigh Eo, has a prize of €100 and if Gaeilge is used, Gnó Mhaigh Eo will add to the fund too. Just dress your window in a "Shop local this St. Patrick's Day" and you're in! Lá Fhéile Pádraig is our national feast day, and what better way to celebrate our country than with our native tongue! Tír gan teanga, tír gan anam - a country without a language, is a country without a soul.

Fun on Market Sq. kicks off at 12pm with ceol agus damhsa and plenty of spraoi for the children with bouncy castles, magicians, face painters etc. After the parade, the spraoi will continue into the evening with the Humbert Ceili Band so head from Market Sq. after the parade.

Volunteers still needed to help with marshalling the event and details can be had by ringing the Chamber at 094 9024845. Bígí linn do Lá Fhéile Pádraig i gCaisleán an Bharraigh!

Don't forget our comórtas grianghraf, our photo competition. All you do is take a photo of the parade or the fun happening during it and upload it to the Facebook page /PatricksDayCastlebar, click "like & share" and you're entered. Cash prize for that too!!

So, come to Caisleán An Bharraigh, Lá Féile Pádraig, March 17th at 12pm and enjoy the craic, ceol agus spraoi!! Thanks to Gnó Mhaigh Eo for all the help.
